Huddly camera software update process
This FAQ will answer several questions regarding the Huddly camera software update process, installations and auto-updates.

- What are the release stages before an update reaches my camera?
Huddly follows a staged release process:
SW development → Beta (~1 week,) → RC (~2 weeks, QA testing) → Stable (4–8 weeks, available to all Huddly Connect App users) → GA → Windows Update / Production.
- When can I manually install an update?
From the Stable stage. Open Huddly Connect App → Settings → Camera Info → Update. This is always the fastest route to the latest release, available from day one of Stable.
- When does automatic update happen on Windows?
Automatic upgrade on Windows host machines begins at the GA stage, which follows Stable. Partners and the Windows Update channel are activated after GA. Expect automatic delivery several weeks after the Stable release — exact timing varies per release.
- Why hasn’t my camera auto-updated yet?
Your device will receive the update automatically once the release reaches GA/WU. If you need it sooner, you can update manually via Huddly Connect App. If your organisation blocks Windows Update or restricts Huddly Camera Service (HCS), automatic updates will not function, and a manual installation or an IT policy exception is required.
- My update failed — what should I do?
- Reboot your device/unplug and replug your camera. Confirm the current firmware in Huddly Connect App → Settings → Camera Info
- For L1 on firmware 1.3.3 or older: you must use the Network Adapter (H3BA) to upgrade as the USB Adapter (H3SA) cannot update from versions older than 1.3.3. Once this upgrade has been completed, you can continue using the USB Adapter.
- For C1 / C1 Crew: if the LED flashes white continuously after upgrade, power cycle the device and recheck in Huddly Connect App.
- If the issue persists, send logs via Huddly Connect App → Settings → Support and Logs, and share the reference ID with Support. For more information about sending in logs, please see this FAQ.
- Can I disable automatic updates?
Yes. In the HCS config file set “SoftwareUpdateHourOfDay”: “-1”, or block Huddly update domains at network level. See the Huddly Camera Service FAQ for details.
- Where do I find release notes and the latest version?
Always at huddly.com/software-releases and within the Microsoft Store / App Store listing for Huddly Connect App.
